Some population statistics: In 2003 the UN estimated the population of Zimbabwe around 12,891,000 people. In 2003 about 5% of the population was over 65 years old and about 44% under 15 years old. There were about 99 males to every 100 females in the country. Also according to the UN, the annual growth rate for 2000-2005 was 0.49%. That means that the population in 2015 will be about 13,031,000.

Birth and death rates: The average birth rate in 2007 was 27.72 births for every 1,000 people. At the same time the average death rate in 2007 was 21.76 deaths per every 1,000 people.

Literacy rates: The average rate for the total population is 90.7%. For males alone the percentage is about 94.2%. The rate for females is around 87.2%. These rates are as of 2003.

Mortality rates: The life expectancy for the total population is about 45.77 years. The life expectancy for men is around 46.36 years and for women about 45.16 years.
